Calling all Pokémon Trainers and fans, mark your calendars, and pack your bags: The 2024 Pokémon World Championships are officially set to take place in the tropical paradise of Honolulu, Hawaii.

The Pokémon Company revealed that the event will take place at the Hawaii Convention Center from August 16 to 18, 2024. It also revealed the artwork for the said event featuring Pikachu and friends snorkeling. This announcement was made live during the Pokemon Europe International Championships in London which was held last week.

2024 Pokémon Europe International Champions

As part of the Pokemon Championship 2024 Season, the 2024 Pokemon Europe International Champions (EUIC) played a vital role in determining the competitors for the World Championship. Placements in the EUIC granted not only cash prizes and trophies to the winners, but also valuable Championship Points that contribute towards their World Championship invitations.

Divided in age divisions and competing in TCG, VGC, Pokemon Go, and Pokemon Unite, both veteran and upcoming players placed highly in the tournament, most notable being Norway’s Tord Reklev scoring his fifth IC win and Benjamin Polster’s terrific rookie year.

Pokemon Japan and North America are coming up next

With the EUIC done and the Latin America International Championship dusted back in November, the next stop for our Pokemon Masters’ tours is in Japan this first week of June 2024, followed immediately in just a few days by the North America International Championship. These pivotal tournaments will feature high-pressure situations for our competitors, as we draw closer to the World Championship in Hawaii this August.

Between now and then, there is still time for players to adjust to the new rotation in Pokemon TCG, which was just implemented in time for the EUIC. Meanwhile, Pokemon VGC players of all three games will still have to deal with balance changes that may come in the next couple of months. There’s still a lot of time for players to claim their stake in the World Championship, but the momentum is on the side of the victors of the EUIC.
